The Self Help Group Approach Eswatini Project funded by Kindernothilfe (KNH) 2007 – 2024
In Eswatini, the The Self Help Group Approach (SHGA) was introduced in 2003, through funding from Kindernothilfe (KNH), Germany. This was followed by organizations that championed the concept in 2008: others followed in 2011 with the aim of identifying and addressing underlying causes of poverty in the country, especially in the rural areas where poverty is widespread. The SHGA has shown evidence of remarkable change in the lives of women and children. The project has also assisted vulnerable youth who have received vocational training through the community-based trainings (CBT) which have enabled the youth to be self-sustaining; to become economically independent and further benefit households and communities.
Youth Enterprise Fund (YEF) 2009 – 2012
Imbita was contracted by the Youth Enterprise Fund (YEF) which provides loans to the youth. The project ran from 2009-2012 where a total of E7 734 647.00 was distributed amongst 688 youth members throughout the country within the following sectors;
- Agriculture
- Manufacturing
- Retailing
- Services
The project included training beneficiaries in business management skills.
Sustainability Agriculture Health Education Environment (SAHEE) 2017
SAHEE foundation is a Swiss non-profit organization that funds projects aiming at aiming at improving perspectives and livelihood conditions of poor children and adults. The foundation was established in 2006 in Zurich, Switzerland. The governing body of the foundation is its board. The board members unite competences in the fields of international cooperation, fair trade, environmental sciences, law, social anthropology, health, and education of children.
USAID, GRAMEEN, ABA ROLI – 2022
Through the Digital Finance Service innovation prize in kind support from MTN Foundation Eswatini, Imbita developed and launched its game changer USSD digital platform known as Heleza that enables members to digitally transact (save, request & pay loans, check balance at the palm of their hands. Through the platform, Imbita is able to reach a larger number of individuals in rural areas and provide them with convenient access to financial services. This collaboration has greatly bolstered Imbita’s efforts in promoting financial inclusion and empowerment in Eswatini.
